Devotional Messages from Dr. Dennis Lynn, President of Cascade College
The Midwestern metropolitan newspaper had a section in the “Classifieds” I had never seen before. It was titled “Get Acquainted” and I soon discovered it wasn’t a notice from the local Welcome Wagon.
The first entry caught my eye, then cut my heart. Here’s a part of the ad: WANTED:WIFE Must be kind hearted, spirited, slim and have few religious values. Drinking and smoking okay, 1 or 2 kids okay, or 1 or 2 horses okay, doesn’t matter…
I’ll stop there. There isn’t enough time to fully decry the atrocious and appalling societal views reflected in this ad. For now, may it serve to remind us all of the millions of people, deceived by the devil, who do not know or do not care about God’s grand design for the family. The proof of Satan’s presence is seen in the broken relationships and shattered lives scattered around us. We have our work cut out for us. In Jesus’ name, we must not just get mad—we must get busy. It’s still true: What the world needs now is love. And God is love. (I John 4:8)
