Devotional Messages from Dr. Dennis Lynn, President of Cascade College
One time a very shy young man went to a bookstore to buy a book on the most effective way to find and romance a woman. The store clerk was a woman, so the shy young man couldn’t bring himself to ask her for help. After spending must time and searching on every shelf, he finally spotted a book that looked helpful. The book was simply titled “Ways to Woo.” He timidly brought it up to the counter and the woman clerk said, “Are you sure you want volume 12 of the encyclopedia?”
It’s easy for people, shy or not, to look in the wrong places for the right answers. Book titles can be misleading and smart people can be mistaken. Many people spend their whole lives searching for answers that are only found in the Bible. May we always remember, and remember to tell others, that God’s only word is “a lamp to our feed and a light for our path” (Psalms 119:105).
